postcode envy.

blogging on a monday night because monday's are usually spent with the boy (its his only off day) but he's in camp doing his reservist today... which leaves me with a lot of time to sort out more trip photos and since i have them all organised now i thought, why not?

have enlarged my photos to do the scenery some justice so i hope you'll enjoy that :)

on to part two of my west coast travelogue - its Vegas, baby! x

spent alot of time walking up and down the strip just to catch the sight and sounds of Sin City - street buskers, Mardi Gras girls, drunk men in broad daylight.
we only knew that there was going to be a major event when we saw loads of people wearing red headbands with the name "Canelo" - there was going to be boxing showdown between Canelo and Mayweather at MGM Grand - no wonder Vegas was filled with throngs of people that weekend!
sooooo many people were gunning for Canelo; they would just chant his name randomly or high-five other fellow Canelo supporters on the street. it was quite a sight.
celebs like Bieber, Heidi Klum and even Psy was there!

FYI, Canelo lost that night. eeeps.

a lil bit of Paris, and a lil bit of the Big Apple.

we also spent a hell lot of time inside the casinos. lowest bet for some casinos at the table was only USD5?! its not even that cheap in Genting or Macau! needless to say we were glued to the blackjack tables most of the time, hurhur.

the casinos were almost always crowded though.

settled for ribs and a chilli cheese dog for lunch one day just because there was no queue at this particular cafe. i couldnt even finish the hot dog - it looks deceivingly small here but hell, it was at least 12 inches long :\

spent half a day at the Vegas Premium Outlets, both North and South, and came back with these. i must say the boy has outdone himself on this trip.

drove some 4 hours to the South rim of the Grand Canyon.
incredibly blue skies, wide spaces, and only a vehicle or two on the same road at the same time.

stopped by Hoover Dam for a short walkabout.

i swear the boy gasped when this suddenly came into sight. he promptly stopped the car and we got down for our first pictures at the canyon.

second time here, but no less amazing.

spotted an elk on the way out! it went to lick some tourist's camera, haha.

Death Valley, where the sun was relentless. it was 48 degrees out.

stayed in Bishop for the night before continuing on to Yosemite the next day.
shan't bore you with too many pictures of mountains, trees and the likes so here's just a few!

i've concluded from this trip that i'm more of a nature lover when it comes to holidays. sure, im almost always in awe of the intricacies of Gothic churches and stained glass, the opulence of castles dipped in gold, architectural marvels full of history - but nothing compares to standing at a vantage point and overlooking the beauty of mother nature, taking it all in, and feeling how small, literally, that i actually am in the grand scheme of things. at one point in time it was so quiet at the canyons that when an eagle flew past, i could actually hear the sound of its majestic wings flapping - and how my heart fluttered.
nothing quite like that to take my breath away, really.

here's to more.

have a blast of a week ahead girls!
